A Message from/for The Patient-Doctor (03/08/2025)

While I will offer as much support as I possibly can, I need you to take responsibility for your own health to some degree. This is for two reasons:

1. The decisions that you make from day-to-day have a significant impact on it, especially when built up into habits over time. So, healing might also require learning new things and having a willingness to change.

2. A person may not fully understand another's experiences, no matter how much they observe and communicate with them. Your body is giving you feedback (which includes your thoughts and feelings) that you should become aware of and sensitive to. Symptoms like pain are signals attempting to point you towards healing and health. Do not dwell on them to the point of coddling them, or try to drown them out. Listen carefully and respond constructively.

We must take care of ourselves in every way (as healthcare is a continuum between the psychosomatic and the environmental). This might consist of lifestyle changes (such as adopting a nourishing diet, regular exercise and rest, detoxing). It also includes psychological practices for personal mental and emotional well-being, as well as practicing communication skills to bring coherence to our interpersonal relationships.

...and for everything else outside of our control, just let go and trust that it will all be okay. The tears burn sometimes, but you'll feel better afterwards. I promise.
