Expressing vulnerability is sometimes thought of as a weakness, but in actuality, it takes a strong sense of identity to be comfortable with being fully open.
Likewise, pride often arises from the fear of being vulnerable, and people may sometimes attempt to use it as a substitute for real courage. The need to "be right" or to "look good" often inhibits one's ability to deliever sincere apologies when they make mistakes or to connect with people on a level deeper than the superficial.
