Investing Money...or Attention? (06/29/2024)

Points for review:

• Some risks are unavoidable while others are foolhardy. For example, compare unforeseen loss of savings from the collapse of a bank versus gambling away that same amount of money. Learn to recognize the difference, especially within your own behavior. What is trustworthy?

• Whenever possible, do not let a resource fall below half of what is put into it. If there is loss, carefully consider why. Always try to leave things better off than how you found them.

• Only invest in that which furthers life. There is no great virtue in "hard work" when it is put towards destruction. What ways of "getting ahead" are really just undermining other people's ability to survive?

• Work honestly and diligently, but do not toil unnecessarily. While effort and efficiency are not equivalent, they should support one another.

• Be discerning, but instead of being picky, be grateful. Cherish every single thing that you are blessed with, no matter how seemingly small it is. Whenever you are tempted to complain, express gratitude instead.

• Distinguish carefully between needs and wants. Always express thanks to others who help you, and help all others to fulfill their needs in constructive ways.

• Share abundance. Do not become greedy, taking more than what is truly needed to survive. Always look for ways to make resources self-regenerative and people self-empowered.

Some music:
Julie Fowlis & Muireann Nic Amhlaoibh - Dá bhFaighfinn Mo Rogha de Thriúr Acu [I really love both Irish and Scottish Gaelic folk songs.]
